Expat Services CR

About us

Local knowledge. Your language. Your side of the table.

We are the professional alternative between the expensive lawyer and the informal gestor.

Our story

Built for the gap nobody else was filling.

Expat Services CR was started in Guanacaste, by people who grew up here and spent years watching foreigners struggle with the same handful of problems.

Managing administrative and regulatory tasks in Costa Rican public institutions is complicated and time consuming, and it gets considerably harder when Spanish is not your first language. From service accounts with Coopeguanacaste or AyA, to mandatory annual declarations, these tasks demand accuracy and local knowledge in equal measure.

The two options available were a law firm charging legal rates for administrative work, or an informal gestor who was cheaper but disappeared when something went wrong. We built the thing in between: a registered company, fixed pricing, and someone who answers in English.

What we believe

Four things we do not compromise on.

Trust

We tell you what we can do, what we cannot, and when you need somebody other than us. Including when that costs us the job.

Bilingual

Every conversation, document summary, and report is in your language. You never have to guess what you just signed.

Closeness

One point of contact who knows your file. No being passed around, no starting the story over on every call.

Ease

If dealing with us feels like more work than doing it yourself, we have failed at the only thing we sell.

The team

The people who will actually be handling your file.

Denis Fabián López Araya

Founder

I was born and raised in El Llanito, in the district of Tamarindo, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, and I graduated from Liceo de Villarreal. Growing up here taught me the value of community, responsibility, and finding practical solutions to everyday problems.

I work directly with clients to manage the administrative side of their processes in Costa Rica, from documentation and service coordination to following up on matters that have stalled. My background is in corporate administration and customer support, alongside studies in computer engineering, which is why I am comfortable with the digital side of official processes as well as the counter.

What I care about most is that people know where their process stands, in language they understand, without having to ask twice.
